Michael Giles is currently the Assistant Superintendent of Equity, Culture, and Community Engagement in the Cherry Creek School District. In this capacity, his primary responsibility is to support the superintendent in achieving the goal of providing true educational equity for all students in the CCSD. Providing ongoing professional development, engaging the voices of students and the community, and examining structures and systems of opportunity within the district are just a few of the strategies used to accomplish this goal. Prior to assuming this role, Mr. Giles was the Assistant Superintendent of Performance Improvement. Over 19 years in the Cherry Creek School District, Mr. Giles has served in such roles as Executive Director of Inclusive Excellence, middle school principal, assistant principal, dean, and counselor. Before entering education, he spent six years as a Juvenile Corrections Counselor in the Denver Metro area. Most importantly, Mike is the proud father of two daughters, Amani (17) and Anayah (11), and the husband to Aisha Giles. Mike’s mission as an educator is to join forces with brilliant educators and community members across the state in a concerted effort to dismantle educational systems of oppression while creating systems of access and opportunity for all to thrive…especially those who have been historically and continuously underserved and underrepresented.
