Three new City Council Members and one incumbent City Council Member were sworn in during a special meeting Jan. 6.
Centennial Municipal Judge Louis Gresh administered the oath of office to Candace Moon (District 1, incumbent), Christine Sweetland (District 2), Richard Holt (District 3), and Don Sheehan (District 4), who began serving four-year terms. The City bid farewell to Council Members Carrie Penaloza (District 2), Ken Lucas (District 3), and Ron Weidmann (District 4), with Mayor Stephanie Piko personally thanking each of them for their contributions to the community. Council Member Penaloza did not run for re-election and Council Members Lucas and Weidmann were term-limited. Mike Sutherland (District 3) was elected as Mayor Pro Tem to fill the vacancy in that position created by the departure of Council Member Carrie Penaloza. The Mayor Pro Tem fulfills the duties of the Mayor when the Mayor is unavailable.
