POLICY UPDATES AND EDUCATIONAL ARTICLES TO HELP ORGANIZATIONS THRIVE
Feeding everyone, regardless of ability to pay, is the reason Cafe 180 opened its doors in Englewood 11 years ago. Building a community of people from diverse backgrounds wasn’t the restaurant’s priority. Yet at its anniversary party last Thursday, it was obvious how much the restaurant, its mission, and its people have meant to the Englewood community. People from all walks of life gathered together to celebrate and share their own “Cafe 180 story.” The celebration included people who have been with the cafe since the beginning and people who were introduced to the restaurant’s concept just days before. Guests enjoyed pizzas, soups, salads, and more—all made onsite by its staff and volunteers. Mockery Brewery and Brewability donated beer for the occasion. In addition to great food, drinks, and company, guests were asked to share one thing they were grateful for on a post-it note to help fill a “gratitude wall.” Some favorites include: “for the years well spent,” “yummy food,” and “community collaboration.” “It was so great to celebrate with old friends and meet new people who love our mission, our people, and our food,” said Sarah Lesyinski, the nonprofit restaurant’s executive director. “I’m so proud of how we’ve come together as a community for all these years, and I’m excited to see what the next 11 years have to offer!” Cafe 180 believes everyone deserves a great meal. Join them for lunch, Tuesday through Saturday from 11am to 2 pm. Learn more at cafe180.org. Comments are closed.
