COLORADO – April 1, 2019 – Merrick & Company’s Board of Directors has elected Christopher C. Sherry as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the firm, effective April 1, 2019. Sherry has served as the firm's President for the past two years and will continue those responsibilities as he assumes the additional role of CEO. He will become Merrick’s fifth CEO in the firm’s 63-year history.
David G. Huelskamp, has served as CEO or Chairman of the Board for the past six years at Merrick. With this transition, he will continue his role as chairman, focusing on board governance and government/industry affairs.
Sherry has been with Merrick since 1985 and has grown with the company serving in several positions throughout his career. He has led the science & technology business unit, corporate support services, and corporate business development. He became chief operating officer in 2014 and president in 2017. His primary focus has been on leadership development, strategic growth, and operational performance. As CEO, he will also be responsible for ownership transition, mergers & acquisitions, and AEC industry affairs. Sherry has served on Merrick's Board of Directors since 2003.
Sherry is an architectural engineering graduate of the University of Colorado, Boulder, and holds an MBA from the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver. Sherry's professional involvement includes over 20 years in various leadership roles with the Society of American Military Engineers and the American Council of Engineering Companies, serving on the board of governors for the Denver Metro Economic Development Corporation and the board of directors for the Denver Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, and the Industry Advisory Board for the College of Engineering at the University of Colorado, Boulder.
