DENVER – June 21, 2017 – On October 9, 2017 the South Metro Denver Chamber will launch a newly-created Centennial State Leadership Academy (CSLA)—a distinctive, market-aligned partnership with DU’s world-ranked Daniels College of Business. The program is aimed at cultivating and supporting the next generation of community-engaged Colorado leaders.
The CSLA kicks-off with a three-day mountain retreat integrating outdoor experiential activities that build self-awareness, communication skills and team performance. The following nine days will take place in Metro Denver, with sessions focused on developing technical business skills, leadership acumen and community-engaged thinking.
“As South Metro Denver and Colorado expands and evolves, we face a range of new challenges and opportunities,” says South Metro Denver Chamber CEO, Bob Golden. “By developing this new community-engaged leadership curriculum, we will be able to equip individuals from diverse sectors to produce dynamic, adaptable and innovative business and community solutions.”
CSLA instructors will include a cross section of DU faculty and Metro Denver business leaders. Kerry Plemmons, clinical professor at the University of Denver, Daniels College of Business, has thirty years of experience in entrepreneurship, leadership, business development and international business. Joining him will be Andrew Graham, President of Clinic Service Corporation and Sue Kenfield, President of See It Thrive, experts in management, strategic planning and multi-generational leadership development.
“It’s exciting to be co-creating a transformational, community-engaged leadership program in partnership with the South Metro Chamber,” says Plemmons. “Teaching leadership intelligence, systems thinking, and social capital project execution will hopefully advance Colorado’s next generation of leader’s collaboration, innovation and business skills—in service to their wider community.”
