Every year, FirstBank does something extraordinary to encourage Coloradans to donate to their favorite cause on Colorado Gives Day.
This year was no different.
FirstBank Officers and Executives went undercover as “vet techs” at several animal hospitals throughout the state to surprise families and their four legged companions, by paying for their entire vet bill, as part of its annual “Give it Forward” program.
The Colorado-based bank covered more than $40,000 in medical bills, ranging from $75 to upwards of $3,700, encouraging lucky recipients to consider "giving it forward" – even if it’s just $10 – to a charity of choice on coloradogivesday.org.

The annual “Give it Forward” program has covered nearly $100,000 in bills for unsuspecting Coloradans since 2014. In previous years, FirstBank employees have posed as servers to pick up dinner tabs, pumped free fuel and bagged free groceries.
In addition, the company launched a series of nonprofit features, social media campaigns and TV ads using real-life crowd-funders (a maker of Griz Coats and creator of Emoji Dick) to challenge Coloradans to give their money to better causes.
As a result, FirstBank and partner Community First Foundation helped Colorado Gives Day raise a record-breaking $39.6 million for over 2,500 nonprofit last December. Since its inception, the bank has helped the online giving movement raise more than $250 million for Colorado charities.
