The committees giving Gov.-Elect Jared Polis advice want to hear from everyday Coloradans.
The seven transition committees are planning a series of telephone town halls over the next week or so to let people share their ideas with the Polis administration. Polis is already moving "Boldly Forward" (his slogan) with campaign promises such as Medicare for all, free preschool and moving the state toward 100 percent renewable energy. “An important part of the transition subcommittees’ work is to solicit public input on how to improve the way state government operates in order to enhance the quality of life and expand opportunity for all Coloradans,” Polis' spokesperson, Mara Sheldon, said in a statement. The tele-town halls are scheduled:
There are several ways people can join in. The public can participate by following the links on the schedule for the events on Polis' transition website by clicking here. During each conference the interface will allow them to ask questions through a chat feature. Those who participate by phone will get instructions at the start of the call for submitting their questions by email or text. They can call in to 1-408-638-0968 and use webinar ID 632-957-508. Coloradans also can share their thoughts on Polis' website by clicking here. The respective committees will also discuss candidates being recruited for Polis' Cabinet and their work on a report about "opportunities and considerations" for each of the state's department. The election results gave business folks here in Colorado much to be concerned about, and some relief too. Because I’m a glass half-full guy I’ll start with the relief part. We’re relieved the oil and gas setbacks (Proposition 112), failed. That one would have really hurt our state businesses and educational structure (due to a loss of tax revenue). We’re also thankful that Amendments Y and Z passed so we can finally get to the work of ensuring our political district boundaries are fairly drawn. Okay, it’s time to look at the half-full side of the election results. For starters, we’re disappointed that the Colorado House, Senate and Governor’s Office are all now controlled by only one party. It’s not a partisan thing, we just don’t like one party controlling everything because we believe that balance at the state Capitol is important. Having said this, we look forward to working with our Democratic friends, including Governor-Elect Polis, to see how we can further strengthen our economy and make Colorado and even better place to live. We have reason to be hopeful in terms of the new governor, since the SMDC has had a good relationship with Jared Polis as he has served as one of our state’s U.S. Representatives. We appreciate that he got his start as a businessman, and that he has a deep understanding of how businesses need to operate if they are to be successful. Our new Governor and state legislators have their hands full of challenges, including what to do about the state’s crumbling roads now that voters rejected transportation initiatives Proposition 110 and Proposition 109. We supported Proposition 110 and are disappointed we’re back to square one on this critical issue for both business and the state’s long-term viability. Okay, enough navel gazing. We got what we got on election night and it’s time to go back to work making sure Colorado remains a great place to live and work. DCBA Session Kick-Off

Tickets are on sale to the general public starting Friday, November 16 at 12pm local time at AXS.com. Train’s Greatest Hits album and epic nationwide tour will celebrate 20 years of beloved music and hits. The album pulls together 16 fan-favorites like “Drops of Jupiter,” “Calling All Angels,” and “Hey Soul Sister” plus a special cover of one of front man Pat Monahan’s favorite songs, George Michael’s “Careless Whisper” - Train’s version features world renowned saxophonist Kenny G. Train’s music video for the cover features Sexy Sax Man and Richard Kern (Home Improvement’s Al Borlan). Train’s self-titled debut album, released by Columbia in 1998 was the start of their now accomplished career - the tumbling wordplay of "Meet Virginia" gave them their first unlikely radio hit and 2001’s Drops Of Jupiter broke them to multi-platinum status thanks to the double GRAMMY award-winning title song that spent 10 months in the Top 40, and earned the Best Rock Song GRAMMY Award. The group won another GRAMMY award in 2011 for their global hit “Hey Soul Sister,” the #1 best-selling smash and most downloaded single of 2010, from their multi-platinum album Save Me, San Francisco. Next was 2012's California 37, which launched the double-platinum hit "Drive By" reaching the Top 10 in over a dozen countries. They've sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, more than 30 million tracks, 14 songs on the Billboard Hot 100 with multiple platinum/gold citations, including 3 GRAMMY awards, 2 Billboard Music Awards and dozens of other honors. Train has gone on to receive eight Grammy nominations and has had 12 albums on the Billboard 200 album chart with their 2014 Bulletproof Picasso reaching No. 4 in 2012 and 2017’s a girl a bottle a boat debuting at No. 8. Outside of music, Train partake in other ventures outside of music with their Drops of Jupiter® wine portfolio. Proceeds from the wine support Family House, a San Francisco charity that supports families of children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses. Train’s 2016 project, Does Led Zeppelin II, a cover album in tribute of their favorite band saw 100% of the band’s proceeds going to Family House. Goo Goo Dolls uphold an unbreakable connection to countless fans. Their influence has been fortified by a catalog replete with the unforgettable smashes "Name," "Iris," and "Slide, which were all included in the top 25 of Billboard's "Top 100 Pop Songs 1992–2012" chart, as well as numerous other hits such as “Black Balloon,” “So Alive” and many more. To date, they’ve sold 12 million albums worldwide, earned four GRAMMY® Award nominations, and made history by notching 14 Top 10 hits at Hot AC—"the most of any artist in history.” Notably, “Iris” dominated the Hot 100 Pop Chart at #1 for 18 straight weeks. Among eleven full-length records, A Boy Named Goo [1995] went double-platinum, Dizzy Up The Girl went quadruple-platinum, and Gutterflower [2002] and Let Love In [2006] both went gold as Something for the Rest of Us [2010] and Magnetic [2013] bowed in the Top 10 of the Billboard Top 200. 2016’s Boxes attracted the praise of People and Huffington Post as Noisey, Consequence of Sound, and more featured them. In 2017, the You Should Be Happy EP spawned another anthem in the form of “Use Me,” which quickly generated 3 million-plus Spotify streams. Their music has been covered by everyone from Taylor Swift to Leona Lewis. Additionally, they’ve performed for millions at sold out shows around the world. That connection grows stronger in 2018 with the 20th anniversary tour celebrating Dizzy Up The Girl. Goo Goo Dolls will be releasing their brand new live album The Audience is That Way (The Rest of the Show) [Live], Vol. 2 on November 23rd, 2018 via Warner Bros. Records. The band is currently in the studio working on their 12th studio album. ![]() Park Meadows features interactive Holiday décor that delight guests, all while supporting local Colorado businesses Lone Tree, CO (November 8, 2018) – What do you get when you combine 8 nights and 4 artists with staff members decorating the largest enclosed shopping center in the state…MAGIC! Park Meadows will offer guests something truly special this holiday season with magical 3-D lights, Santa’s new twinkling wonderland, and festive décor throughout the center featuring gorgeous new displays in the center court. Guests will have a reason to be merry and bright as they enjoy a culmination of exciting holiday experiences for the entire family at Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. Park Meadows has been a patron of the arts supporting Coloradan artists from the day the shopping center opened in 1996. Paintings, photos and sculptures were incorporated into Park Meadows’ design from inception and local artwork is featured throughout Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. And it doesn’t stop there, Park Meadows puts it’s best foot forward for the Holiday season by collaborating with local artists and Colorado companies to make the shopping center sparkle and shine with memorable décor that enhances the shopping experience. This is where Colorado-based, Alpine Artisan Studios, takes the reigns and truly delivers nothing short of magic. This local company, dating back to 1935, designs and manufactures holiday décor for clients all over the world. Park Meadows has partnered with this female-owned business over the years to create a unique vision with custom décor for each holiday season at Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. Christmas comes early in this line of business, starting with brainstorming sessions that begin in January to discuss new ideas, technology and products that drive Park Meadows holiday vision and décor. Then, Alpine Artisan’s CEO, Jenn Vanini, along with her team, begin working in their Westminster studio early summer to design and manufacture the custom sets and products that are incorporated into the holiday décor at Park Meadows. When November 1st rolls around, Alpine Artisan Studios installs the décor throughout the almost 1.6 million square foot shopping center over the course of 8 nights! And voila…holiday has arrived! The magic begins with a surprise for your eyes when visitors put on their fun 3-D glasses and experience the twinkling lights found throughout the shopping center. Lights come to life with holographic glasses that transform the beautiful Christmas lights to Santa, candy canes or snowflakes. The holiday spirit comes alive with this new enhancement that adds to the already festive atmosphere of plush garland, warm fireplaces, and over 1 million twinkling lights in and around the Colorado-inspired architecture. Guests can pick up their own 3-D glasses from Santa, the gift wrap station or select vendors throughout Park Meadows. Visitors will also discover an exciting Santa experience in the Dillard’s Court as they walk through 12 foot ‘SANTA’ letters at the entrance to the twinkling winter set. Local artisan and owner of Eye Candy Props, Bill Kinsey, designed these custom, three-dimensional letters. Guests experience more wonder and delight as they stroll through the giant Christmas tree and take in the sights and sounds of Santa’s winter wonderland with Santa’s sleigh, woodland snowmen, festive reindeer, custom costumes and interactive elements. Good little boys and girls will enjoy holiday cartoons broadcast from Santa’s sleigh and balloon entertainment on select days while waiting in line to share their wishes with St. Nick, making the retail resort the next best thing to actually visiting the North Pole. This year debuts 6 foot glitter ornaments hanging within the 225 ceiling of Center Court, to complement the America the Beautiful mural. A true must see. “Park Meadows is committed to providing a one-of-a-kind holiday experience that is truly memorable and enjoyable while also supporting our Colorado businesses,” says Pam Kelly, Senior General Manager. “We hope to delight our guests this holiday season with our interactive 3-D décor along with many other exciting elements and perks such as free parking and gift wrap.” Add more than 200 amazing stores and 14 full-service restaurants to the holiday mix and you now know why they call Park Meadows, Colorado’s Only Retail Resort. |
