Technology Advocates Group (TAG)

The Technology Advocates Group is an organization for investors of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce who focus on Technology in their professional lives. The group has monthly meetings among members to discuss new technologies and trends that are affecting the industry. Additionally, the group hosts regular presentations to the general SMDCC membership regarding technology, and the potential impact on business. Finally, TAG provides technical consultation to one or more non-profit organizations throughout the year.

TAG is not a sales group. The group’s purpose is for IT professionals within the Chamber membership to discuss ideas and thoughts with one another.

Mission:

Monthly Technology Discussion

Round table discussion regarding a technology topic: The topic will be chosen in advance. Members are strongly encouraged to read at minimum one article regarding the topic that you will be able to discuss with the group. This is intended to be a water cooler type of discussion on technology where everyone participates.
Guest speakers: We may occasionally invite guest speakers from larger technology companies to keep the group advised of changes and trends in technology.

Chamber Interaction

TAG members will present a series of technology topics open to Small Business Owners. The purpose of these presentations will be to provide general information about technology that may have a beneficial impact on business productivity.
Another goal is to lower the Concern people have with technology and getting others comfortable with it.
TAG Members are hoping to receive feedback from chamber members regarding their perception of technology within their business through the use of user groups.

Philanthropy- Our goals for this area are to:

Adopt a not for profit organization and provide technology expertise.
Use existing technology relationships to have hardware/software donated ie Microsoft, HP, Dell
Donate our time to help implement technology solutions

Additionally, following guidelines have been created for the group:

Technology companies only (at this time) may participate in the group. Companies that provide technology support, technology training, network, systems, software and web design our encouraged to join. However, at this time, the group will only promote itself by personal invitation and not advertise itself through Meet Up or other Chamber websites. Those interested in joining the group must be able to commit to a monthly meeting.
Integrity is key! Members shall not seek any opportunities to infringe upon another members business sphere of clients. We will respect each other and not purposely phish another company’s client based on information discussed in the meetings.
Sales will not be a part of any discussion, as this is not a leads group.
Competitors are encouraged and welcomed to act as coop-petition.
Meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of every month at 11:30am.
