Student Leadership ProgramBest Interns

Do you have a project that has been put on the back-burner for too long? Have you ever wanted an intern but are unsure where to find one? Or do you know of or are a high school or college student who wants more than the typical summer job experience? If you answered yes to any of these questions, the Student Leadership Program is for you

Convenience:

The most common way to recruit college interns today is to place a listing on the college’s internship database. Unfortunately, this involves filling out applications at multiple colleges around the state. Furthermore, you are competing with thousands of other businesses. Much like a web search, if your internship is not one of the first listed it is less likely that students will hear about the opportunity. The Student Leadership Program has a dedicated staff member who partners with Snelling Personnel Services to learn about your business’ needs as well as each student’s individual needs. Based on screened and established criterion, we create the best possible match. Essentially, the Chamber and Snelling serves as a filter for you and the student.

SLP StudentsTraining:

You don't need to worry about your intern coming to work the first day in jeans, sandals, and a torn shirt. The Student Leadership Program coordinator coaches each student to make sure they show up the first day understanding the basics of professional dress code and etiquette. The Chamber brings in experts to speak to students about what is and is not appropriate.

Follow-up:

Unfortunately, even with the most thorough processes, internships can hit obstacles. The Student Leadership Program coordinator serves as a third-party mediator. If the intern’s supervisor has any concerns with the intern, we can help speak with the intern to find a solution.

Mentoring:

Mentoring high school and college students can be an extremely rewarding experience particularly for students eager to follow down a similar path that you have already been down. It is a spectacular opportunity to pass down your wisdom to someone who is eager to learn.
