Chamber Jargon 101

The Labels of South Metro Denver Chamber Committees, Programs and Events are a Collage of Aconyms, Phrases and Monikers which can be confusing to the uninitiated. Below is a Chamber lexicon to help you better understand our lingo.

BAH - Business After Hours
Networking event held the 2nd Tuesday of every month at various chamber member locations, 5-7 pm.

BOSS - Business Owner Seeking Solutions
Business Owners meet monthly to provide feedback tailored to specific business issues such as hiring and firing, marketing and expansion, opening or closing a location.

EDG – Economic Development Group
Separately Funded regional organization of dedicated business and community leaders working together to enhance the economic climate of the South Metro Area-

EVB - Events and Visitor’s Bureau
Separately funded program that promotes economic development through a collective effort from businesses including hotels, restaurants, retail, parks and recreation, entertainment, and attractions

GLYI - Greater Littleton Youth Initiative
This group provides a strategic approach to enhance the development of young people and to prevent youth violence.

HYPE- Helping Young Professionals Excel
A premier networking forum for young (and young at heart) professionals in the South Metro Area. They meet the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5-7 pm at different chamber member locations.

LAC- Legislative Action Committee
Non-partisan forum designed for all chamber members, irrespective of political acumen, who want to learn about the legislative process, track current bills being introduced and ultimately weigh-in on legislation that impacts the business community.

LEADs Group - Each Leads Group is designed to be a marketing/advertising/promotional alternative aimed at increasing members' business and professional success. They work to actively provide and receive quality referrals and leads among members in order to increase a business' revenues, market share, and exposure to potential clients.

LINCS
Leaders Inspiring Connections and Success at WIL events through volunteering and informal mentoring.

SBDC- Small Business Development Center
A partnership between the Small Business Administration, South Metro Chamber, and corporate sponsors to aide in the start up and growth of small business.

SLP- Student Leadership Program
Program unites eligible students who are looking for internships with Chamber members.

SMDCC- South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce

STEM-EC – Science, Technology, Engineering and Math Education Coalition
Business leaders, educators, and community advocates working to better connect industry and the K-16 academic community in efforts to graduate more students.

TAG - Technology Advocates Group
An organization for members of the South Metro Denver Chamber of Commerce who focus on Technology in their professional lives.

Unplugged-
Networking event held at the chamber the 4th Friday of Every Month, 4-6 pm.

WIL- Women In Leadership
A Chamber program that presents business women with opportunities to connect with other business women in the south metro area in various programs, committee, and events.
