Arapahoe Community College Open Faculty Positions

POSITION:                  Full-time Faculty – Paralegal                    

JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Professor of Paralegal Studies will perform instruction-related duties and related activities in accordance with the philosophies and procedures of Arapahoe Community College and the policies of the Colorado Community College system.  This faculty member is responsible for teaching 15 credit hours of paralegal education courses each fall and spring semester.  Courses may be taught using both traditional and non-traditional delivery approaches (e.g. hybrid or accelerated); some weekend and evening teaching may be required.  Other responsibilities include developing and evaluating curriculum; advising and retention activities; assessing student and program objectives; serving on college committees; selecting texts; and attending departmental, division, and college meetings and functions.  Department chair or coordinator duties may be added at a later date. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working with paralegals
  • Juris Doctorate degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • License to practice law in Colorado
  • Experience in the practice of law
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills
  • Must hold or be able to obtain a Colorado Career and Technical Education Credential
  • Understanding of adult learning theory concepts with the ability to utilize these principles effectively in the learning environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Civil litigation experience
  • Higher education teaching experience, online teaching experience, evidence of working collaboratively with other college departments and visions, and experience working with diverse populations preferred

JOB DESCRIPTION:To perform instruction related duties and related activities in accordance with the philosophies and procedures of Arapahoe Community College and the policies of the Colorado Community College system.  The faculty member reports to the Dean of Math, Business and Technology and is responsible for day and evening instruction (15 semester credit hours) in all levels of courses offered through the Mathematics Department including assessment of student performance.  Other responsibilities include participation in mathematics curriculum revision and development, student academic advising, supporting departmental initiatives, serving on college committees and mentoring part-time instructors. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Masters Degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Engineering, Computer Science,  Physics, Statistics or related field from an Accredited College or University
  • A minimum of 18 semester hours of successful graduate level mathematics coursework
  • Experience Teaching mathematics at the college level
  • Strong commitment to excellence in teaching and ongoing scholarship
  • Demonstrated competency with multiple instructional delivery methods including: online, hybrid, web-enhanced and face to face
  • Experience using various forms of instructional technology such as smart classrooms, podcasts, presentation software, and /or online course management systems such as Blackboard, WebCT, e-college or Desire2learn
  • Understanding of adult learning theory concepts with the ability to utilize these principles effectively in the learning environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 30 semester hours of mathematics teaching experience
  • Experience working with developmental math students
  • Demonstrated ability to teach all levels of mathematics
  • Demonstration of well defined student performance objectives and high academic Standards

  • Experience integrating technology, including graphing calculators into courses

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution with a minimum of 18 credit hours in architecture or a related field

  • Documented evidence of classroom teaching
  • State Vocational Credentials or the ability to attain the credential         
  • Higher education teaching experience, online teaching experience, evidence of working collaboratively with other college departments and visions, community groups, experience working with diverse population preferred
  • Demonstrated competency with multiple instructional delivery methods including: online, hybrid, web-enhanced and face to face
  • Experience using various forms of instructional technology such as smart classrooms, podcasts, presentation software, and /or online course management systems such as Blackboard, WebCT, e-college or Desire2learn
  • Understanding of adult learning theory concepts with the ability to utilize these principles effectively in the learning environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
